Happy Birthday Hubby Dear

After exactly a year, my blog has waken up, once again. Too many things happened during this period. We even have a new member in the family; our son, Dhiran.

Today is hubby's birthday. Couldn't do much as I usually do as I just arrived home in Switzerland a few days ago. Would probably be baking just a simple cake. No matter a how simple it is, it means a lot.

Many happy returns of the day, Siva

Happy Birthday Hubby Dear

It is my husband's birthday today. I made his favourite dessert, tiramisu, last night upon his request. Since we both work today, there's no celebration today. Anyway, I have planned for one on Saturday.

The National Day of Switzerland

Today is the national day of Switzerland. Its a public holday here that all three of us are at home. Nothing much happened. Watched a tamil film on Cee (I) tv and did some cooking. We had a guest who came for dinner. I made thosai, chilli chicken, sambar and pineapple pudding as dessert. I´m no good at thosai making. Still a learner and trying to formulate the best recipe.

It's Worth

I had a long weekend as I took a day off on Friday. Hehehehe simply did so as it was hubby's off day. Just wanted to spend some time together. We both felt missing each other. Ever since Mahisha was born, our concentration has diverted to her alone. Another thing is that we both have different working hours that disable us to communicate. Communication is the key to a successful marriage.

Now, after so much of talking on Friday, we feel the closeness and attachment to each other once again. During the weekend, I felt so many differences in his approaches and gestures towards me. I told myself "My old Siva is here again". A day off was after all worth it.

Yoohoooo ...... I'm Back!!

The blog has been abandoned for 4 weeks. As an update of what happened all these while, here's a recap of the past 4 weeks.

22.06.2006
Mahisha turned 21 months. 3 more months till she reaches 2 years old.

23.06.2006
My officemates did a surprise advance birthday party for me. It was a simple lunch with pizzas and pepsi. They gave a flower bouquet and a greeting card. Our office cleaner, Billiana the Yugoslavian girl, gave me a glass platter. Ouch!! I was so touched.

24.06.2006
It was my birthday. I baked a pandan chiffon cake for myself. I love pandan cakes. I'm lucky enough to get the leaves here. My friend Indra called me up from KL. I was very happy. Received quite a number of smses from my sisters and some friends. Of course my mom also called to wish. Other than that, nothing special happened.

25.06.2006
We drove 1.5 hours to my sister-in-law's place in Basel. The husband of my other sister-in-law in Sri Lanka was there in transit. We had to visit him as the last time we met him was 3 years ago and he has never met Mahisha.

26.06.2006
After dinner, I had a bloody urine and pain on the right side of my waist. I was scared. Tried calling hubby who was at work but could not reach him. Mahisha and I went to sleep. He came home at midnight. Told him what had happened. He quickly rushed me to the hospital which is just 2 minutes drive from our place. He left me at the emergency entrance and left home as Mahisha was home alone, fast asleep.

I was in terrible pain. It was becoming worse. Clotted blood was coming along with my urine. They checked my urine, blood, pressure and pulse. Then, they scanned both my kidneys as I had severe pain on my right waist. I was told that it could be an infection and that I will have to be hospitalised.

27.06.2006
Had my breakfast and straight away went downstairs for check up. It was a test know confirm how far the infection has gone. The doctor was saying this and that. I was bored and asked him "So, what's your conclusion?" He said "Drink cranberry juice. It would help by 20%". Ok, done then.

28.06.2006
I was discharged. Returned back home. Priya, the babysitter and family came to visited me along with homecooked dinner for us. I felt
very grateful to her.

03.07.2006
Returned back to work after 4 days of medical leave. There were mounts of work waiting for me. My fellow officemate, Gunawan the Indonesian guy, had to give me a helping hand to close the monthly accounting. The whole week was so hectic.

07.07.2006
It was the 7th anniversary of a major disaster in my life. The day the incident called "accident" happened. 7 years ago at about 5:45pm, Metro bus no: 4 ran over my right foot at the junction of Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Sultan Ismail. I was hospitalised in Ampang Puteri Specialiast Hospital for 1.5 months and was on medical leave for 6 months. Till today, I am suffering the injuring. My mom still curses everytime she comes across Metro bus no: 4.

09.07.2006
We were invited for a lunch in my babysitter, Priya's place in conjuction with her son, Harry's 3rd birthday on 07.07.2006. We bought a remote controlled car and I baked a cake for him. When we about to leave, Priya became emotional that Mahisha would not be going to her place anymore.

10.07.2006
Mahisha's 1st day at the Children Day Care Centre. She was very shy, scared and very reluctant to join anyone. She was always clinging to me. I was a totally new environment for her. We spend 2.5 hours there and went back home.

11.07.2006
I left Mahisha for 1 hour and went back home. When I came back, she climbed on me like a little monkey. We left at 11am.

12.07.2006
I left her in the morning at 8:30am and left home. She cried. Then, at 1pm went to take her back home. It seems that she cried for 20 minutes.

13.07.2006
It's Mahisha's 1st whole day alone at the Day Care Centre. When I left her in the morning, she cried a lot. We parted thrice. I could not speak as I was also about to cry looking at baby crying so much. I left and stood outside the building looking up at the 2nd floor where she was. I could still hear her crying for me. I went to the tram stop. The timer at the stop showed 6 minutes. Which means that the next tram will be arriving the stop in 6 minutes time. I rushed to the Day Care Centre again and stood opposite the building looking up at the 2nd floor where Mahisha was. She was still crying for me. My whole body was shivering. I couldn't take it. So, I just walked back to the tram stop. The tram came and I boarded it. I didn't remember anything after that. Suddenly, I was awakened by my handphone. It was Mahisha's caretaker informing me that Mahisha cried for 15 minutes and that now she is just fine. Only then, I realised that I was already in the office at my desk. I have been out of the world thinking only about Mahisha. The whole day I was restless worrying about her. A mother will always be a mother. We realise it only when we have our own children.

16.07.2006
Hubby's friend Selvam and his wife Vasugi came for lunch at our place. Vasugi just came to Switzerland for good after waiting for about 10 months to get a stay permit to live here with her husband. I cooked chicken biryani and acar for them. Made fruit jelly as dessert. I was very happy that they liked my cooking.

22.07.2006
Mahisha turned 22 months. 2 more months to reach 2 years old.

23.07.2006
We were invited by Selvam and Vasugi for dinner at thier place in Marzili which is 2 minutes driving from our place. Hubby told me to bake and ice a cake for them. So, I made a little black Forest Cake. They were very happy to receive a homemade cake as a gift. Hubby dear was very much proud.

26.07.2006
It's my friend Indra's birthday today. I called her up early in the morning before leaving to work. She was so very happy to receive a birthday wish from so far away. I was also happy that I made her day. Happy birthday to u Indra!

Those are all that has happened within 4 weeks. I hope to update the blog promptly from now onwards.

Mahisha's Summer Look

In line with the summer theme, Mahisha now has a new look. The appa did a haircut for her using his machine. hehehehe.

I had a shock when I reached home. She came running to me when I opened the door and immediately started storytelling about the whole matter.

A Tea Party At Home

Yesterday we had a tea party at home. I love to cook and entertain guests. To my dismay, I don't always get this kind of chances as hubby rarely gets off on Sundays. So, I took the opportunity to prepared the goodies that I have wanted to eat for a long long time. I baked a moist chocolate cake and prepared the pastry for cherry tartlets on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, made yam jelly, buah melaka and using a store bought puff pastry, baked curry puffs with potato and prawns filling. This time, hubby couldn't help much in the kitchen, like the cleaning and washing up jobs which he normally does. The reason, Mahisha was not feeling well. She has cough and fever due to sudden whether change. Yeah, the temperature suddenly rose to 26° C. Therefore, he had to take care of her while I do all the jobs.

At 3:00pm Mahisha's babysitter, Priya, her husband Sundar and their son Hari came. As they entered, the football game between Netherlands and Serbia-Montenegro started. In line with the theme, they brought a football cake!

Then, came San and Kavitha at 3:30pm. We all ate and drank coffee (though it was a tea party, I served coffee) while watching the game. I was very pleased that my guests liked the goodies that I made. Then, San suggested that all of us go to his place and have a barbeque party at his lawn for dinner. That a indeed a great idea.

Our guests- From left to right: Kavitha, San, Sundar, Priya & Hari

We reached San's place in Bümpliz at 6:00pm which is a 10 minutes drive from our place in Brunnmattstrasse. The men prepared everything while we ladies and the kids played football at the lawn. Though Mahisha was not feeling well, she enjoyed the game. We ate cold pasta salad and barbequed sausages along with some vegetables. We all had a wonderful time chatting and laughing. We came back home at 9:00pm. Mahisha and appa straight away went to bed.

The Football Fever Begins

Here comes the world cup football again. Gosh!! Look at how time flies. The madness begins again and going to stay for a month. Both this time and the previous time, I enjoy watching the game during prime time. Yeah, last time I was still in Malaysia. I was into a business of selling imitation football jersey join ventured with my brother. Well, I was his supplier. I can't believe that I actually did it.

There's nothing much happening here in Switzerland though they are participating in the game. Another thing is that, Switzerland is an immediate neighbour of Germany. Just next door. Unlike in Malaysia, though we don't participate, we still die for it. The Swiss are funny people or shall I say it correctly, NERDS!!! All they know is how to make money out of everything. The Brazilian team were in Switzerland for their final trainings. The Swiss, as usual, made business of it. They sold tickets to thousands for those who wanted to watch the training sessions.

Actually, I'm an England supporter but then, they got kick out during the quarterfinals of the previous world cup. Brazil and Germany met in the finals. My whole family was supporting Brazil. Therefore, to spice up the atmosphere, I purposely supported Germany, the opponent team. Even before the game started, I was already in my jersey, both top and bottom. I was jogging around my house as though I was training for the game. Amma said at my age, then, I was supposed to have children of my own but I was acting like a little kid myself. Though she was angry, she couldn't stop laughing at me. This time, as she wished, I'm already a mother of a bubbly 20 months old girl. She too plays football at home.

This time, I don't know if I would have much time to watch the games. Anyway, I'll keep myself updated. Again, I'm supporting both my fav teams, the English, the adorable chameleons and the German, the hardworking team.

Long live the Queen!!!!
Hopp Deutschland!!!!

Check out the date

Today is the 6th day of the 6th month of the year 2006. Which is shortly written as 06.06.06. Its triple 6!!! To some people, this would mean an omen day. To me, I think that it would bring me 3 times more luck as the number 6 means a lot to me. My numerological number (which is my date of birth, 24 added together) is 6. I was born in the 6th month of the calendar year. On top of those, hey my favourite number is also 6!

I believe that everything depends on how we take it. Either we look at it negatively and feel miserable about it or look at it in a positive way and be happy about the whole thing. The amount of energy consumed for both is the same. So, why feel sad and miserable when we can be happy and contended?

Am I Happy Or What!!!

I am so very happy today. For the 1st time ever I have got orders for cakes. The orders are for 4 moist chocolate cakes. Though it is the time of the month that I will be absolutely busy closing monthly accountings, I accepted the offer with a big heart and smile. The cakes are for the Malaysian Embassy’s function to be held on Saturday at the residence of the Ambassador for the Malaysians living in Switzerland. I am extremely happy that my baking has received recognition and being favoured.

I realised that I was too happy only after having my dinner. I could not believe that my fish curry tasted too good. It tasted like amma’s fish curry. I cooked black pomfret fish curry. We had a guest for dinner. Even he had a 2nd serving and cleaned his plate without a single grain of rice. Today I have learned something very important. When we are happy and contended, whatever we do though it is a simple little thing, it tends to come out excellently. We have to happily do something in order to gain the best result or outcome.
